The power supply unit allows for an ETHERNET connection to be converted into a POE type connection for supplying the internal unit. The power supply unit is required when installing VIP devices, such as video intercoms/intercoms on preexisting ETHERNET networks with non POE (Power Over Ethernet) connections.
